An overview of the engineering workshop

Workshop is a building that houses machines tools and equipment with which materials are taking through processes to a particular product.

VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS IN WORKSHOP

1) Foundry Department This is a place where a metal is molten. The equipments that could be found in the foundry department includes

i. furnaces

ii. moulds

iii. Etc...

2) Machine Department This is the place where the operational machines are housed. These machines include:

i. Shearing machines or guillotines

ii. Power saw

iii. Folding machines

iv. Bending machines

v. Rolling machine

vi. Drilling machines

vii. Shaping machines

viii. Milling machines

ix. Grinding machines

x. Lathe machines

3) Welding Department The welding department is a place where products are formed by having the required materials joined together by melting and fusing them at their junctions. Two outstanding equipment are always seen here. They are

a) Oxy-acetylene welding equipment and welding rods (Oxy-acetylene cutter)

b) Arc welding equipment and electrodes.

4) Fitting Department This is a section or department where materials are formed into particular products by nuts, bolts, screws and general things that are easily detachable. The equipment formed here include:

i. Hand tools

ii. Work benches (carrying vices)

iii. Etc…

5) Store Department This is a place where all the other departments go for spare parts, duplicated tools for replacement of tools and machines and generally, everything that will be required in all the various departments of the workshop. The store department is divided into two namely

i. Tools Section

ii. Materials Section
